Meet the New Boss - Same as the Old Boss

  1. I'm not sure that I get the title of this post. Obama more or less had to promise not to do shit about gun control. A promise that we can all agree he kept.

How dare you imply that Hillary will be similarly timid? Why should she kow-tow to the NRA? Running on a platform of defeating the NRA is a sure-fire win. Besides which, of course, it is way too early to tell what on earth will happen or not happen. Will Hillary even win the office? Will she take office on a democratic avalanche? Will we really for once and for all have the power to do something meaningful in this arena?

It's not known at this time. How about you call your relatives in the U.S. and urge them to all vote democratic?

    1. Originally I wanted Hillary to lose in the primary because I never thought that she could be elected president with all of the hatred directed against her. I honestly believed that a nomination for Hillary would increase the likelihood of a republican president in 2017. This is a nightmare scenario that our country cannot possibly survive.

Now I realize that the impotent forces of Hillary hatred can easily be defeated. Of course I support the first woman president. The ultimate glass ceiling. I voted for her in the 2008 primary over Obama. The democratic old boys network made sure that she lost that one. I believe that Jimmy Carter himself was the King-maker. Hillary and BHO are both great Americans.

Sanders is a fucking genius. But he's a long shot. Maybe three hundred to one.

You meant of course, a sure-fire win among anti-gun leftists who demonize the NRA as a convenient boogeyman, while simultaneously pretending that they support "gun safety"..........and ignorant of the irony that the NRA is the primary movement behind gun safety training, and gun control groups contribute nothing more than the empty label.

    4. Hillary, the Great American, who is being investigated for espionage, destruction of government property, obstruction of justice, perjury, misleading Congress, is in violation of federal law and the UN arms embargo is FJ;s candidate.
And somehow Bernie is a genius because he embraces the failed system of socialism.
      HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

    5. It was during the 2008 presidential campaign. He didn't actually promise to leave guns completely alone, just that he did not wish to take away anyone's guns. This article sees it from the perspective that it was a broken promise because of his remarks after the Umqua College massacre.

      http://www.hngn.com/articles/136326/20151003/obamas-gun-confiscation-push-is-another-broken-campaign-promise-watch.htm

During a Sept. 9, 2008 campaign speech in Lebanon, Virginia, Obama told the crowd that he believes "in people's lawful right to bear arms."
"I will not take your shotgun away. I will not take your rifle away. I won't take your handgun away," Obama said.
"I just want to be absolutely clear. Alright, So I don't want any misunderstanding when you all go home and you are talking to your buddies and you say, ah 'He wants to take your guns away.' You've heard it here, I'm on television so everybody knows it. I believe in the Second Amendment."

    6. I guess we could say that's one promise he did keep.

    7. Uh... He kept that promise by being defeated by congressional Republicans of which he called it a "shameful day in Washington". Was his promise to lose issues he pushes? And it is shameful to keep promises?

Why then, is he praising the 'Australian' model?

    9. Sorry, I didn't mean he deserves any credit for having kept that promise.

    10. Then don't call it "keeping a promise". That's like a husband who promises to be faithful to his wife, chases every skirt he sees, but claims to have kept his promise because the only thing he got was slapped in the face.

If little kids didn't find guns laying around their houses on a daily basis in our beloved and heaven-blessed land, I guess we wouldn't really need to teach elementary school children gun safety before they even have a chance to learn a second language or a musical instrument.

Now in 1966, I certainly understood bow and arrow safety very well. Never point the arrow at another person. Only shoot under an instructor's supervision. That's also the year I discovered that I needed glasses.

A couple of years later, my friend an I actually shot arrows right over a highway. Thankfully, we were both great archers, and our arrows all landed on the wilderness tract on the other side of the highway.

    1. You've successfully avoided the point of my remark. So, you're saying that if accidental discharges involving children magically ceased.....there would be no need for gun safety education?
