Gun Nuts are Terrorizing America: The Watershed Moment Everyone Missed

Here is a truth so fundamental that it should be self-evident: When legitimately constituted state authority stands down in the face of armed threats, the very foundation of the republic is in danger. And yet that is exactly what happened at Cliven Bundy’s Nevada ranch this spring: An alleged criminal defeated the cops, because the forces of lawlessness came at them with guns — then Bureau of Land Management officials further surrendered by removing the government markings from their vehicles to prevent violence against them.
What should be judged a watershed in American history instead became a story about one man’s racist rants. Even as two more Nevada lunatics, inspired by their stint at Cliven Bundy’s ranch, allegedly ambushed and mowed down two police officers and killed a bystander after crying, “This is the start of a revolution.” And now, an antigovernment conspiracy theorist named Douglas Cole recently shot at two police officers in Nevada County, California (though you may not have heard about that, because the New York Times hasn’t found the news yet fit to print).
Such actions are the logical conclusion of a movement that has been veritably sweeping the nation for years now. Early Tea Partiers began attending rallies with guns on their hips. “Open carry” advocates make a fetish of just this sort of brandishing of guns in public places, especially where they are most unwanted.

  1. Open carry is an invitation to disaster. The nuts who support open carry are true gun loons.

  2. Hmmm, its interesting that their presence at the recent events surrounding the Bundy Ranch have marked them as conservative radicals. Especially since they were asked to leave by those self same Bundy style radicals.

His son, Ammon Bundy, said that "state militia members" told him the Millers had been at the ranch, but were asked by a militia member to leave because of "their radical beliefs."

I wonder why they didn't get labeled as progressive radicals since they also seem to have been drawn to similar events in support of the Occupy movement. No word on whether they were asked to leave there.

"The Millers moved from Indiana to Las Vegas in January, according to Amanda Miller's Facebook page.
She posted two videos of them driving: one that showed the road ahead and another of her at the wheel.
Her Facebook profile also shows pictures of a protest last year in Lafayette, Indiana.
The "Million Mask March" protest's Facebook page describes the November 2013 event as "a march against billionaires who own banks and corporations who corrupt politicians who enslave the people and injustice."
Another picture on her Facebook page in late April shows her and Jerad in costume: He is dressed as the Joker from "Batman" holding up a Joker playing card."

So the Millers seem to be unconcerned about what brand of antigovernment group they associate with as long as they're antigovernment. So then the question ought to be, which group found them so radical as to ask them to leave?

    1. I don't get your point that they were asked to leave the Bundy ranch. What does that prove? The Bundy folks found the Millers too overt in their fanaticism and feared they'd cause trouble. So?

You're not trying to argue that the rest of the Bundy demonstrators were simple mainstream folks, are you?

    2. I love it, SS defending the convictions of the Bundy clan and blaming some non existent liberal group for accepting the Millers sick convictions. There's rational gun loon thinking.

    3. Anon, you should pay better attention. I was speaking to the media's linking of the Millers to a group that actually told them to leave. As opposed to them also appearing at a progressive group's events and there being no linkage.
I think its really cool when you make comments like referring to the Occupy movement and Anonymous as nonexistent groups. Especially since they are so widely known. They've even been discussed here.

    4. You should make more sense, but as a gun loon that's not possible.
