  1. The same would be true if he fell off a ladder or cut himself with a knife by accident.

    1. Dropping a gun on the floor is an unacceptable failure to safely and securely manage a firearm. People like that have no business owning and carrying guns.

    2. It's human nature. Sometimes, human beings drop things. That doesn't mean that they shouldn't be allowed to own them.

    3. Is that why you're always on about banning grips and heat shields? Are you hoping more people drop guns so that you can permanently take away their rights?

    4. Gun ownership demands a high level of responsibility. Dropping a salt shaker is one thing, but dropping a loaded gun is another. Why do you guys support such dangerous and sloppy behavior?

    5. Do you agree with the Brady Campaign when they say pistol grips must be banned because they make a gun easier to control? Why would you support such a dangerous and sloppy law?

  2. Love it, Greg thinks falling off a ladder is the same as being shot. Thanks Greg, I needed a laugh today.

    1. Both are accidents. Both can have serious consequences or can be minor. So do tell, what was so amusing about that comment?

    2. A ladder is not made to kill. I understand your stupidity to not grasp that idea

    3. When an accident occurs, no object is being used as intended. But we don't expect Anonymous to comprehend logic.

    4. Gee, I expect more safety from a gun owner than a ladder owner. I expect nothing but lies from a coward like you.

    5. Steve, I issue the same challenge to you that I gave to Democommie awhile ago: Prove that I've lied, and I'll never comment here again. Now by lie, I mean what people generally understand that to mean--namely, making a claim of fact that I know to be false. Democommie couldn't do it, by the way.

    6. Your lies have been proven by others. I will use their proof, your own statements and words. Until you can give reasons why your statements do not mean what they say, you are a lying coward criminal. These cowardly reasons you refuse to reply are just the sign of a coward. You have your proof and refuse to respond.

    7. Already proven. Next lie.

    8. In other words, you can't do it. Thanks for playing.

    9. No liar criminal coward, it means what I said. Proof has already been given. It's laughable that you who have been refusing to respond to Steve for weeks, would even make such a lying comment. Gregs permanent moniker: Criminal lying coward.

  3. Mikeb, I see why you support gun control. You hang out with enraged and incoherent cowards. If that's how you see the world, no wonder you don't want people to be armed.

  4. It is beyond me why people like Greg continue to offer their ridiculous excuses for why guns cause more damage than other weapons. It's clear that when silly and paranoid people think they need guns with them wherever they go, things like this will happen. They just don't happen with knives. Why be in such denial, Greg? It serves no purpose.

    1. The reason for Greg's persistent denial is obvious, japete. He wants the right, so to speak, to do this negligent behavior himself. He doesn't want the government or anyone else to tell him he can't, like the adolescent-minded, insecure man he is.

    2. Japete, you are here doing your usual thing of twisting words into what you want them to say. My point was that accidents of all types happen. I didn't say anything about relative frequency or intensity of damage, though other kinds of accidents are more frequent that firearms accidents.

But to support gun control, you do have to reject logic.

  5. That's classic, Greggie!! No difference, I'm sure. Next time I see a story about some idiot gun owner who unintentionally fires his gun through a wall and kills the neighbor or hits the kid down the street, I'll be sure to note that the same could have been from a knife or ladder.... Makes as much sense.

    1. Are you gun control freaks capable of adult conversation? Really, this baby talk is no credit to you.

    2. Greg, the gun control commenters on this thread are doing a much better job than you are at "adult conversation."

    3. My reference to baby talk was about the cutesy way he addressed me. Of course, gun control freaks believe that we all need nannies to take care of us, so it comes as no surprise that your side resorts to such language.

  6. Baldr & Anonymous,

You really believe the poor guy should be criminally charged for accidentally shooting himself? You're completely nuts. It's possible that Mike just posted this for you extremists to have a chance to demonstrate your idiocy He is known for a sense of fair play.

There is no criminal negligence. It was a complete accident. He was the victim. What would be the crime?.

    1. Actually FJ, I have long supported a strict one-strike-you're-out policy with regards the misuse of guns. The gun-rights fanatics love to write things off as accidents, but whatever you call them, people who actually demonstrate the inability to safely own and carry guns should not be allowed to do so.

    2. Flying Junior is being reasonable here, Mikeb. Take a lesson.

    3. He *should* be charged with criminal negligence, since, unlike with accidents with most other objects, like cutting himself with a knife, for instance, he endangers everyone within reach of a bullet fired by the gun.

I also agree that there should be a "one strike you're out" law regarding firearms. If you demonstrate that you are unsafe with a gun, as this guy has, you are clearly unfit to continue possessing one.

Anyone who picks up a loaded gun must also assume the responsibility for that weapon. In cases like this, it is too easy for the gun guys to go "Aw, poor guy, hasn't he suffered enough?" but he assumes the risk by picking it up. I'm just happy he didn't die from his negligence, and that no one else was injured... this time.
