Spree Shooting in Dallas - 4 Dead 4 Wounded

Local news reports

A suspect in the fatal shootings of four people in two Dallas-area homes was in custody Thursday as police tried to determine what prompted the attacks just minutes apart and whether an explosive was used.
Four people were also wounded in the attacks. The first shooting took place at a house in southwest Dallas late Wednesday and another was about 15 minutes later in DeSoto, some 10 miles away, Dallas police Sgt. Warren Mitchell said.
Investigators arrested Erbie Bowser Wednesday night at the second crime scene, but they have no information about Bowser's relationship with any of the victims, DeSoto police Cpt. Melissa Franks said.

  1. Perfect example of one the reasons the wife and I both carry, even at home. What was this guy up to? Did he know the people he targeted?

Out in the country we were always alert to four legged predators, here in the big cities now we have to be alert to two legged ones. Pity that there are people like him in this world.

I don't understand what goes thru the minds of individuals such as this guy, but I do know if someone like him breaks into our home, we know what the last thing is that will go thru his mind!

    1. Mike I am going to quote you from the 'Stand your ground' article.

"Even with guns in the home, you guys are always talking about that proverbial home invasion by masked men, well how does drinking fit into that picture? Is having a few going to make you better able to handle a bad situation?"

This is a point to which I will agree with you and this article 'Spree Shooting' article gives a perfect example of readiness that needs to be adhered to 24/7. Armed or not, doors are to be remained locked, know who is knocking at your door or approaching you is just but a few of hundreds of examples anyone and everyone needs to learn.

If your door is getting bashed in, your windows getting smashed in, this is not some random drunk trying to get in the wrong house. That kind of action displays intent to harm whether he is drunk, high on drugs or not. And no you should not try to reason with him. Looks as this guy was wasting no time in his killing spree. This gives the victims little time to defend themselves if ill prepared.

I was taught this and more, I teach this and more to my family and so on. There are also thousands of example of such a person was stopped by armed home owners or armed residents that do practice awareness at all times. Big city or not, you should always be aware.

That quote from you, I still think you are more pro gun than you let on. Good call. With the things going on in Italy I have been reading about, are you practicing preparedness Mike?

    2. You're right, I am pro gun for those qualified to handle them responsibly.

I do many things to protect myself and my family, but at this time owning a gun is not one of them.

    3. Remember, I said armed or not preparedness is the key. The tool in which you decide to use to defend yourself is up to you.

For me, I am too old for q hand to hand fight, so if the mere presentation of my firearm will deter an assailant then great! If not the he has to advance thru a lead wall. Either way both me and the wife as well as family and friends stay prepared.
