Florida Girl, 6, Shot by Brother, 13 - Parents Weren't Home

 Local news reports

An evening of being home alone ended Saturday night with a 13-year-old boy shooting his 6-year-old sister at their Oakland Park residence.

The girl was taken to Broward Health Medical Center, where she was listed in critical but stable condition, said Dani Moschella, Sheriff's Office spokeswoman.

The agency is investigating the circumstances of the shooting, "but it initially appears to be accidental," she said.

Deputies were talking to the boy and his parents, Moschella said.

Shortly before 7 p.m., the Sheriff's Office responded to a call reporting a gunshot fired in the area. When deputies arrived, they found that the children's parents were not home.

"The siblings had been home alone when the teen found the handgun," Moschella said in a news release.

  1. If you really want to stop the accidental / unintentional shootings, then stop making gun owners and ownership taboo; instead, get people educated. I alone could educate my entire neighborhood. Imagine if everyone did something like that.
