Law Enforcement Targets, Inc., Forced to do the Right Thing

Reason.com

In response to criticism from civil liberties advocates and law enforcement groups alike, Law Enforcement Targets Inc.--a supplier of targets to the local, state, and federal law enforcement groups--has discontinued a line of targets that feature grandparents, a mother, a child, and a pregnant woman; all of them holding guns.

"We apologize for the offensive nature of our 'No More Hesitation' products," reads a letter that LET Inc. posted Feb. 21 on its company Facebook page. "These products have been taken offline due to the opinions expressed by so many, including members of the law enforcement community."

According to a statement the company sent Reason last week, members of the law enforcement community inspired Law Enforcement Targets Inc. to design the "No More Hesitation" series in the first place:

Imagine, it wasn't the fault of this despicable company for producing such trash, it was law enforcement's fault for requesting it.
That's just like so many on the pro-gun side. It's never their fault.

  1. Mike,

You're weeks late to the party you jackass. It was our pro-gun blogs that discovered these targets and raised a stink over them weeks ago, finally resulting in their being pulled.

But go ahead, try to smear us.

As for diverting responsibility--yes, the company bears the blame for actually complying with law enforcement's request. However, it's nice to know that law enforcement requested these--it would be nicer to know which agencies and departments requested and purchased them so that we could know which of them were despicable enough to come up with the idea in the first place.

Plenty of blame to go all around between the company and LE, but STFU on trying to link them to us.

  2. All three of them are holding what looks to be a Smith & Wesson Model 5906. As such, each one has potentially sixteen rounds with which to kill the officer. This was entirely appropriate training, and now, more good guys will get killed or will make errors in dangerous situations, thanks to political correctness.

    1. Yeah, all those cops who are dropping like flies from shots fired by nine-month pregnant chicks and nine-year-old boys.

Is there anything you're not contentious about, Greg, anything that I put out?

    2. I don't go along to get along. I tell the truth. If someone is pointing a gun at me, that's a threat to my life. It doesn't matter what kind of person is doing it--race, sex, religion, age: all are irrelevant.

  3. Which part of the article that specifically stated that LE originated and designed the targets didn't you understand, mikeb?

    1. "This product line was originally requested and designed by the law enforcement community..."
      Guess you missed that, huh.

  4. Tell me this, Mikeb: Do you object to the target that shows a large white guy holding a gun? Isn't the principle of feminism and civil rights that we treat everyone according to the person's actions, not according to sex or race? A target showing a woman pointing a gun is a sign of the progress women have made. Their actions are as morally meaningful as a man's.
